Recently, Professor Min Qiu from the School of Engineering at Westlake University was elected as a Fellow of The Electromagnetics Academy (TEMA) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of nanophotonics and metasurface engineering.

The Electromagnetics Academy (TEMA) was founded in 1989 by Professor Jin Au Kong (1942–2008) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Guided by the vision of "advancing photonics and electromagnetic science and technology without borders for the benefit of humanity," TEMA aims to promote knowledge sharing, dissemination, and innovation in photonics and electromagnetics, advance the research and application of electromagnetic theory, foster collaboration among mathematicians, physicists, and engineers, accelerate technological progress, and cultivate the next generation of leading talents.

TEMA organizes the Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS) and publishes the Progress in Electromagnetics Research (PIER) journal. PIERS and the PIER journal are dedicated to advancing global scientific and technological development, with a particular focus on areas related to Maxwell's equations. Their research scope encompasses a wide range of topics across frequencies and scales, from classical electromagnetics to quantum optics and electromagnetics.

The title of Fellow of The Electromagnetics Academy is conferred to distinguished individuals who have achieved extraordinary accomplishments in the fields of photonics and electromagnetics.
